about

In 2007, we were asked to play with Further Seems Forever on a string of farewell shows..back when the wonderful, beloved and sorely missed Jon Bunch was singing. We released this EP to have something to sell on our merch table. The demo of "Vollman"was the first song written for En Masse, and what years later became The Eastern Wave. I sent this demo to Steve, Eric and TJ to see if they'd be interested in expanding upon the journey...fortunately they were. Before recording the "Alarm" EP as a band, Steve sent the "Vollman" demo to J Robbins to see if he'd be interested in recording us. J's response was that it sounded like "Tragic Sci-Fi", which is an excellent way to sum up 99.9% of all music I've ever been inclined to create. "Alarm-Alarm" was a nice instrumental TJ had recorded around the time we were starting the band, and felt fitting here.

I was also really psyched to do a split release with my old friend Mac Powell aka Boycott Paris, who has been a great source of inspiration for me over the years. First as one of the dark & mysterious masterminds behind the fabled Fort Walton Beach, Florida weirdcore band My Father's Mission, then as bassist and programmer for the wonderful NYC outfit All The Ghosts. Mac and Andrew from All the Ghosts also accompanied us in the studio as we recorded the Alarm EP with J Robbins in Baltimore, and Andrew sang lead vocals our track "Ireland". I think Mac currently plays in Elika with some of his ex-All the Ghosts bandmates. If you're out there Mac Powell - I love and miss you.
